Golden Milk Paste is a must

Golden Milk Paste is something I like to keep stocked in my fridge at all times. I usually like to use it for Golden Milk Lattes or mix it in with my oatmeal. It’s super comforting because it is full of spices and has anti-inflammatory properties thanks to turmeric!

Golden Milk Lattes

Golden Milk Lattes have become quite trendy in recent years. The star ingredient, turmeric gives it that beautiful golden color. Not only is it pretty to look at but turmeric is full of health benefits. I began incorporating turmeric regularly into my diet when I started to have issues with my gallbladder.

Before I had gallbladder removal surgery, my stomach would feel extremely bloated and uneasy after a gallbladder attack. During this time I would drink Golden Milk Lattes daily to soothe my stomach. I’m not a doctor but I felt like the turmeric really helped to reduce the bloating.

I was making single-serving cups every day but realized if I’m going to be doing this every day, I should just make it in bulk. I noticed that stores were selling golden milk powder and golden milk paste. They are a bit pricey for the amount you get so I figured I could just make it myself. I’m so glad I did because it’s super easy and cheap to make at home!

Turmeric is the key ingredient and can be found pretty much anywhere, usually in the spice aisle. Even more common spices in this recipe that you may already have in your home are black pepper, ginger powder, and cinnamon powder.

Lastly adding a fat is important to aid in the digestion of turmeric. I like to use coconut oil because I love the added coconut flavor. Simply mix all the ingredients together on low heat with some water until it turns into a paste.

The end result is not the prettiest I’ll admit but it tastes just as good as anything you can find at the store for a fraction of the cost. Although I no longer have gallbladder issues, I still like to keep this stocked in my fridge at all times to make Golden Milk Lattes.

A serving size is 1/4 tsp and you can mix it with any warm milk of your choice. I like to use unsweetened almond milk and sweeten with honey. It also tastes great mixed in oatmeal! Place the Golden Milk Paste in a resealable container and keep in the fridge for up to 14 days!
